What you will do as our Buyer:
Summary: Under limited supervision run daily Purchasing Operations, maintain records and ensure Purchase orders are placed on time. Performs broad assignments involving the purchase of critical items, large dollar (e.g. capital equipment) and large volume purchases.
REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing Operations
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Process orders and maintain record of all transactions, Purchase requests, Quotes, Purchase orders, and acknowledgements.
- Maintain materials and suppliers in SAP and Master Vendor List
- Assist with Purchasing projects and continuous improvement activities.
- Review, confirm and enter Purchasing relevant information for ECOs.
- Work with Planners, Production Supervisor and operations management to expedite materials to meet customer demand with minimal expediting fees.
- Member of Change Control Board and is responsible for communicating upcoming changes to suppliers and ensuring that suppliers are able to meet new requirements. Must be able to work with design engineers and the suppliers to resolve issues when suppliers are unable to meet change requirements.
- Search, evaluate, and approve new suppliers as needed.
- Responsible for decisions on purchasing quantities at the best price and lowest financial risk, while maintaining a continuing reliable source of supply.
- Work with suppliers to improve low performance and drive closure of corrective action items.
- Responsible for processing non-conforming material and ensuring suppliers issue credits when non-conformance is determined to be caused by the supplier.
- Responsible for filing and archiving purchasing records and activities per established procedures.
- Resolve potential material disruption issues and escalate as needed.
- Generate effective communication, good relations and a positive, service-oriented image with coworkers. Promote courtesy, objectivity and fairness.
- Follow established policies and procedures that assure compliance with Tecan policies and the Quality System, industry standards, SAP, UCC, General Accounting Principles, Federal, State and local laws, FDA Good Manufacturing Practices and applicable ISO standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITEIS INCLUDE THE PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB. THE JOB DESCRIPTION SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A COMPLETE LISTING OF ALL MISCELLANEOUS, INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DUTIES, WHICH MAY BE ASSIGNED DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in Procurement.
- Experience in SAP required.
- NPI buying experience a plus
- Experience in manufacturing environment a plus
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering specifications a plus
- Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Office required.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
- Team player with strong organizational skills and self-starter.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
